For me the second shot, the person in the back ground I’m the first draws the eye away from the boy. In the second shot you look at the boy before you notice the man peering out from the other window. Plus I find my eye drawn along the train. (I think its a train).
Both good shots though.
First shot is about the boy, for me; the woman in the back might be his mother. Goes towards a portrait. The 2nd is about people on a train and goes well with your title. I prefer the first one. ✋
What lovely photos – I don’t have enough time now to like them all. I will be returning. Thanks for stopping by my site. Black and white photography holds a special place in my heart. 🙂

good insight! Thanks, I agree and yes it is a train.

thanks for your view, both tell some story I think
Both good. I prefer 1st one .
Thanks for your vote Helen!
Hi, both are good, but for me the first composition works better. Regards.
Thanks for your opinion!
I like both, Vincent but the first one has a cinematic feel I prefer.
Thanks Karine!
Very hard choice. But I pick the bottom one. Like the contrast and implied age symbolism. Canonical decisive moment photo. Both excellent.
I like both pics, both pics are telling a story.
Maybe the second ist easier to read.
But ist this a real advantage? 🙂
The first one; the boy is definitely the subject. The eye then moves to the watching woman and the train car number for context and back to the boy.
The closer the better 🙂
Both – with a tendency to the first, really… 🙂
