Originating in 1975, Paducah Photo has grown from a fledgling contest to the Mid-South's most prestigious annual photographic event.

This year's juror is Michael Johnson is a Professor of Art at Murray State University and Director of "Magic Silver", one of the largest international juried photography exhibitions. Johnson has been teaching photography at MSU for 37 years.

The Paducah Photo '10 Exhibition will be held at the Yeiser Art Center, 200 Broadway and will run from June 19 through July 24.

1st price in photo competition by UNICEF Netherlands:

We are ready to go ... and I do expect to come back from our trip with some new work. Till then a simple subject.

Due to the fact that last big trip is a year ago the number of photographs to be published became rare. We currently are organizing last details for our next trip to Cuba. I used the time to reduce some content of the site while keeping in mind that less might be more.

One of the things that has been removed is the news section. Maybe it was useful for some visitors but there are sites that focus on industry news while the focus of this site is my own photography. For the moment it is removed from the menu bar, with the next site update the page itself will disappear.

What do you think, is less more?

I am leaving now to Barcelona, as usual I will take my camera.. maybe I come back with some portraits.

Meanwhile you could have a look at some older work in the galleries or at some other photographers listed in the links.

Last days where busy, I however had this second slide show from our India trip beginning 2008 in the pipeline.

Today I had a few minutes to complete it and put it online.

Photo-Vinc now is 100% black and white, today I have removed last colour work from galleries and Blog. I hope you like the more consistent style!

This afternoon I found some time and produced a first slide show of portraits from our last trip in India.

Last 2 weekends I have been visiting the unique junkyard in Kaufdorf (Switzerland).

The junkyard is open till Sunday Oct. 12th, for information and coordinates in German click here. These are the last days till closure which, probably will be a final closure.

The days of 2007 are counted, time to review the results.

Mali changed my attitude on photography a lot. It never came into my mind to do people photography, in Mali however I managed to be that close to people and it worked out well. I feel managed some nice portraits and combined the results in 3 slide shows which, can be found in the people section on the web site.

After Mali I learned that printing black and white is not an easy job, for that reason I invested in a good Epson printer and became more and more dedicated to black and white photography. In 2008 I plan to print out some of the portraits for an exposition.

Expectations where high for the trip to NYC, at home looking at the photographs I found the portraits made there with too much distance.

The good thing I took from NYC was a collection of photographic books that where hard to find in Europe. Reading about and looking at work from other photographers brought me lots of inspiration, I however spend few memory space on the hard disks for new work.

Early October by coincidence I took some portraits just in front of our house. There is nothing wrong with coincidence, it was reacting in the right moment. These are my best portraits from Europe, I plan more to do of European portraits in 2008.

At the moment I am with my wife in India, let's see what I bring home by the end of January 2008

I just uploaded a new slide show containing some more portraits from our trip to Mali earlier this year.

It took me some time to compile a slide show with portraits from our trip to Mali in January this year. The photographs have been published in this blog before and the slide show is a summary.

Last week, we returned home from our trip to Mali. The photographs made during this trip are very different from what I did before. Not only Africa was a new experience, I also started to take photographs of people.

As a first result there is a slide show with 3 brothers we met in Réserve de Douenza.

Next weeks I will add more photographs of the trip.

We yesterday night arrived in Bamako (Mali) and are going to look for transportation to Timbuktu (AKA Tombouctou).



Transportation in Mali is slow and we will enjoy to slow down to that pace next 4 weeks of travel.

It is still relative warm here, today we had 18°C.. it is almost December. Since we not believe weather will stay like this my wife and I yesterday have booked tickets for our next vacation.



The next trip will bring us to Mali... I hear you thinking, no it is not Bali. Mali is there were Timbuktu is. Ah Mali is in Timbuktu. Not exactly, it is the other way around. Mali is a country in the Midwest of Africa. Looking at the books and reports in Internet we are already looking forward to leave the end of this year and stay there whole January.



Things are going slow in Mali and there is quite a lot of Dust. Having a slow pace during vacation is a good thing after all the running in daily life. The dust makes me worrying for the dSLR I recently bought. Maybe I have to consider a Panasonic FZ50 as an alternative for trips like these.



By the way, the photos from Guatemala/Honduras trip are still not finalized. Till now there is just one gallery from Chichicastenango to see here. I had too much material and it is sometimes difficult to decide what to keep and what to throw away. Probably I am going to manage to publish Antigua gallery next weeks.
