I think sharpness is overrated and for that matter any other 'rule' in photography like the rule of thirds is overrated. If you use photography as an artistic form of expression and the image you've produced is in line with your 'inner eye', with your artistic visualization, then everything is allowed.
I like this image a lot and don't care about the lack of sharpness. Joel

I dissent. Even though the image could suffice for its purpose (e.g. with foreground text), I don't appreciate it. I agree that generally speaking sharpness is no requisite, but I know few people who disagree with that. In this particular picture, the lady is only just unsharp. Contrary to complete blur that's annoying since my eyes strain to accomodate.

@Wim: thanks for your honest comment... tastes seems to differ, maybe sometimes it is not too bad to just try to be close to the borders of what is appreciated by a wide audience.
